DECA Recovery Process
LOCATION: Green River, Wyoming
TOTAL INSTALLED COST: $7 Million
Fee: $2.7 Million
PROJECT SCHEDULE: 2 Years
PSE partnered with a Chemicals Company to engineer a DECA pond recovery process in Green River, Wyoming. The new facility was designed to maximize tailings facilities while recapturing usable materials from previously unusable waste ponds. PSE was tasked with process planning, detailed engineering, procurement, installation and construction support in the following disciplines: process, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.
PSE provided staffing to review process and verify equipment sizing. Once the process was finalized, design began on buildings and equipment. Our team devised a way to connect the new mechanical equipment, piping and material handling equipment into existing pipe lines and structures. PSE was able to do the tie-ins during scheduled maintenance downtimes. PSE was also responsible for the MCC building and instrumentation design, including start-up and commissioning.
A new 40’x40’x45’ building was required to support all of the DECA process equipment from a crystallizer to cooling towers. Our engineers provided drawings for the new building, required foundations and access platforms, as well as specifications for concrete deicing, sumps and drains.
PSE also provided designs for mechanical equipment, pipe tie-ins, piping and equipment supports, interconnecting piping, bridge crane and monorail crain design, heat exchanger modifications, and material handling equipment. PSE provided electrical engineering design for an MCC building, instrumentation and maintenance equipment.
The project was unique and challenging, yet project goals were met and the process was a success.
