Control Systems Engineer V

JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Director of Engineering, a CSEV functions as the Manager of Controls. They ensure that all Control Engineers and Designers follow prescribed company procedures and industry best practices, as well as meet project goals to be on time, under budget with the highest quality requirements to the satisfaction of the client. The incumbent should demonstrate excellent management skills as well as a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment. The incumbent should have skills in all aspects of controls and should be able to present the companies experience and capabilities to clients and potential clients.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As Control Systems Engineer V, you can expect to:

  • Ensure that procedures of the company and project are met

  • Manage large control systems projects

  • Ensure that controls systems engineers and designers are meeting the client’s needs and expectations

  • Participate in proposal presentations and business development activities to ensure growth and work opportunities for the department. Report to Director of Engineering on staffing and engineering needs to meet the current work load

  • Prepare total installed costs (TIC) estimates for control system projects

  • Oversee the staffing and scheduling control system personnel

  • Program independently and be resourceful in said programming

  • Check and verify others’ control system work

  • Train other controls personnel

  • Ensure that the control system design engineering services are commensurate with professional codes and standards, client requirements, and corporate objectives

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, a minimum of 15 years controls experience preferred, capable of managing control projects

  • High level of technical knowledge as well as excellent leadership, interpersonal, employee and demonstrated client relationship skills

  • Thorough understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various DCS and PLC software packages and general automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments

  • PE license required

  • Consulting Engineering experience preferred

  • Excellent communication both written and verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent skills with AutoCAD to create and edit drawings as needed

  • Complete knowledge of P&ID symbols as defined by ISA standards

  • Competency in one or more PLC or DCS programming languages
